Chairman's corner

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2022 from the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior!  I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and found reasons to celebrate as well as some time for rest and relaxation.  My own family celebrated with the arrival of a new addition, a female Shiba Inu puppy named Sochi.  These dogs are considered a national treasure in Japan, and they also inspired a new cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.  Sochi is settling in nicely at this point, having explored every nook and cranny of our home and having become quite attached to the humans she has newly adopted (Jon, Hudson, and Scott).  But this newsletter isn’t about new puppies; it’s about psychiatry!  So let’s take a look at some of the updates in this edition of the newsletter and see what’s been happening around our department.  Within each of our missions, you’ll find evidence of hard work, creativity, intelligence, teamwork, and most importantly, compassion.  These are our core values, guiding us through good times and bad, and shaping our behavior on a daily basis.  I hope you’ll join me in learning about and supporting the many people who make our department the great place that it is.  Thank you for a great 2021 and wishing you all the best in 2022!
